Symi - Faithfully

Orthodox tradition

When approaching Symi you see the perfectly painted image of an idyllic traditional village --a spectacular sight. Traditional stone houses, painted in all colours but mostly in light and dark yellow, ochra and terracotta, with red roofs.

Symi has a lot of Christian Orthodox Churches and Monasteries, more than many other greek islands, despite its small size. During your visit in Symi you will see different kinds of churches and experience local traditions like nowhere else.

In the South part of Symi, the Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis is the most iconic location. The monastery is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. Its construction date is still unknown but, according to an old manuscript, it existed in the 15th century. It is built on the ruins of an ancient temple. Your trip in Symi should include Panormits with no doubt!

You will love Symi at first sight!
